Meets July 6 - August 14, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, 3:55-6:00PM, plus a weekly asynchronous session of 120 minutes. Destroyed and thus also preserved by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 CE, Pompeii offers an extremely rich document of Roman life. This seminar-style course concentrates on the primary evidence of graffiti, historical documents, wall paintings, artifacts, and other archaeological remains from the world's most famous archaeological site - together with its lesser-known cousin, Herculaneum - to shed light on Roman culture and society. 365体育博彩_365体育app-彩票*官网 will explore the experience of everyday Romans across a number of realms: entertainment, politics, commerce, deviance, housing, religion, slavery, leisure, industry, commerce, and many more.

Meets Monday-Thursday, May 26 - July 2. There are three types of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics. Whenever we look at data, we can almost never completely rule out that the relationship between variables is just random. This course will introduce you to techniques to start evaluating this randomness. This course provides an introduction to statistics and how to present those statistics to a general audience. It covers descriptive statistics and statistical inference, including confidence intervals and significance tests for population sums, percentages, and averages. It also covers techniques for visualizing these statistical processes and writing about them.
